In the train.

In the train.

At a quarter to six we get up, we drink coffee and we take a shower. Then we pack the last things in the suitcases.
We have to get the bus from a quarter past seven to the station. We get that bus, we are even too early at the bus stop. The gates at the station just open, even though we only have one train ticket, which is intended for two people.

The train is on time, we board and find our places. We have a coupe where just one man is sitting.
Via Deventer, Almelo and Hengelo we go to Germany. The train does not run very fast. In Almelo the man gets out in 'our' coupe, we now have the coupe for ourselves.
In Bad Bentheim, a German locomotive is placed in front of the train and German inspectors board the train. The train now runs a lot faster. Via Rheine, Osnabrück Hbf, Bad Oeynhausen, Minden, Hanover Hbf, Wolfsburg, Stendal, Berlin Spandau we go to Berlin Hbf. Along the way we sit and watch the landscape.
Along the way a woman comes in the coupe for a while, after an hour she gets out again.
We buy some food in the restaurant on the train, and that tastes better than expected.

After more than five hours we are in Berlin.
Here we have an hour and a half to get the train to Prague. The station is very large, two floors with tracks, three or four floors with shops, and lots of people.
We look around, buy some food and drink for the train ride to Prague and wait for the train.

The train, a Czech train, arrives on time, we get in and look for our seats. We are now in a large compartment, it is quite busy, and the air conditioning is blowing quite hard. The seats are comfortable and there is enough legroom.
The train runs very slowly from Berlin to Dresden, then it goes faster, but we are on time in Prague. Many people also get off in Dresden. The train runs long stretches along the Elbe, and the view is very beautiful.

In Prague we walk to our hotel, the Art Nouveau Palace Hotel. The route description from Treinreiswinkel is very good, and after about 10 minutes we are at the hotel.
The welcome is neat and friendly, and after ten minutes we are in our room. That is certainly not disappointing, spacious, neat and comfortable.

Because it has already been eight o'clock we are not going to explore the city anymore, but we eat in the hotel restaurant. Here too the staff is friendly. The food is not really expensive, around 15 € for a tasty main course. We discuss what we are going to do in Prague in the next two days.
After dinner we are pretty tired, especially from the train journey. We go to our room Tom has quite unexpected problems with breathing, luckily we have medication with us, and we are in bed at eleven.
